My woodcarving skills have evolved from a life of hunting, fishing, and a wildlife career roaming rural Minnesota.  Starting in high school shop class, working with wood satisfied a need to create from scratch pieces enhanced by varied wood grains.  My goal for each piece is to show off the beauty of the natural wood grain.  Colors are achieved using stains, bleach, and minimal painting.  The finish is hand-rubbed in 5-8 coats.  Decoys vary 40 to 60 hours to complete.  My father said, “If you do something, do it right.”  I strive to do that to create a one-of-a-kind piece any customer would enjoy having.

Photography is capturing a moment forever, ideally moments that hold great beauty or emotion. For me, that focuses on nature, wildlife, and landscapes. I started off doing it just for myself, and although it has grown into being in others’ homes as well, in the end, I still do this for myself because it is what I truly enjoy doing.

I started attending this festival in 2018, and it keeps bringing me back every year. The staff and volunteers are some of the most hard-working and kind people around. This results in an incredible show both for the artists and the community. It has been incredible to see how it develops and grows each year, and I am excited to see what the future holds for it as well.

Featured Artist - Delora Fiers

Designs by Delora

Delora Fiers cast handmade paper pulp on a mold to create a sculptural piece of paper art. Each piece is one of a kind. Her favorite pulp source are fibers from cattail leaves. She also recycles commercial papers.

Delora has always enjoyed working with paper and is drawn to three-dimensional art because it is tactile. When she learned she could sculpt with paper pulp, she was able to combine her two favorite things.

Her watercolor and mixed media paintings reflect the rugged beauty of the region and her love for the area she still calls home.

Hi! I try to distill a lifetime of observing nature into miniature works of art to grace your home & life.
I've made art since I was a child, and my favorite mediums currently are polymer clay and found object mosaics.
Gardens, plants, wild animals, my land, other lands, biospheres, the physical & spiritual wheel of the year- all of these inspire me, and then I make my quirky art in response.
I love making original art switch plates so you have a work of art to delight you when you step up to the switch- plus, they don't take up any counter space and don't require dusting!
I've made decorative egg sculptures since I was a child, and I now covers eggshells with polymer clay....most of them turn into owls...and unlike eggshells, they're very, very strong.
The polymer clay works are made of hundreds of little pieces of colored clay, put together in different ways. There's no paint on anything- the clay itself is colored.
After making the pieces, I cure them by baking to become strong like PVC piping.
For larger wall pieces, I'm often inspired by recycled cardboard packing material base. Cardboard shoe inserts? They become owls.
Fluorescent lightbulb packing? They become doorways.

Jim Ayers

The beauty of birds is the inspiration for the art of the bird carver. Jim creates works of art that evoke the feeling of that bird, a portrait of its spirit. These amazing carvings are not so much painted as they are dyed. These popular carvings are colorful and life-like and not to be missed.
